Getting a little frustrated that there isn’t enough time in the day.

Yesterday evening, I tried going down to the greenhouse to get some seedlings transplanted.

I really just want more time to get my hands in the dirt. I feel like that’s probably how most gardeners feel when they aren’t gardening. 😂

It seems like I’ve been working on a ton of prep work that isn’t actually gardening and it’s making me crabby. Today, I had some troubles trying to get my Govee Wi-Fi thermometers to connect. Once it is done, it will be so so nice to be able to check the temperature (and humidity) of the greenhouses from my phone. That way, if I get a low temperature, I will be notified. Technically the propane heaters should be set to a specific temperature. Or at least within two degrees of that temperature. Unfortunately something went a little haywire with the thermostats though, so now I have the heater thermostat set to 48 and it will come on at 68. I like to keep the plants warm for the first few weeks so they can root out and not be stunted. Something I read in the wholesalers catalog actually.

And I’m not sure that is actually going to fix the problem. But to be honest it is getting more towards spring to where just having the plants in the greenhouse should protect them for the most part. I worry less when the outdoor temps aren’t in the teens…or worse.

I do have a flat of tomato starts and a flat of pepper starts that I really REALLY want to get transplanted. And thankfully, with the cooler weather, they have managed to continue to do okay in their little soil blocks. I just know I need to start more. I don’t even have enough for just the big garden currently. I ended up ordering more pepper seeds. I had okay germination. Would’ve liked better.

You can see the jalapeños in the middle. They all popped up!
Always love the first petunia blooms

I also took out the freeze dried bananas today and packaged them. Well. Most of them. I ate quite a few. 😳😅 I wonder what they would be like if I tempered some chocolate and covered them….hmm yum.

Pistachio!

I think this might be one of my favorite petunias! So cool. I really want to try for huge baskets this year. I think I can pull it off.

On Monday, my bare root plants show up. I have full gold raspberries, haskap berries (more of them!), hardy kiwi (going in the greenhouse at the house I think!), hardy fig (those too!), Saskatoon berries. (Yum) Hops, so I can have a cool looking living fence. I also want it on the pergola. I wish something would grow on the pergola. But my dog keeps peeing on everything! 😭😭😭 I also have 100 strawberry plants. A variety I think I will really love with super long Everbearing harvest dates (Quinalt) and some patriot blueberry bushes. I guess the hope is that we will be able to produce more fruit. Last year I don’t think I got much fruit off any of the trees. The raspberries did wonderful and the strawberries did okay. I just really want a different variety than the one that I have (which is a mystery…I got them long ago) but I know the strawberries I have currently are definitely June bearing. They put off runners like crazy, which you would think would be a good thing…except that I’m pretty sure it puts it energy towards the runner plants instead of towards berries…I would say it is location…but I have HUGE patches of them in three different areas. 😳

So anyways, here’s to hopefully getting that taken care of. I don’t even know when my onions and potatoes are going to show up. And I would LOVE to get radishes (among other things like peas!) in the ground. But when we got another spigot and connected to sewer last fall, we had to disconnect the main line of the drip tape system. Not a huge deal to get it going again….but it is just another thing that needs done before we can move forward.

I have a bunch of brassicas and lettuces and other cold weather crops that would probably do really well in the cold weather. Just have to have a place where they can thrive. I suppose I could plant them at the house…but I would be hand watering here too. I’m sure it will all come together as time goes on! My favorite part is just sharing the pictures to be honest. And to look back and see what did get accomplished.

My cute little lettuces
