Movement forward.

Patrick is getting pretty fast at building these greenhouses and tables! Inside of greenhouse #4.

I did manage to get to the greenhouse and water everything, and tag some tomatoes. But other than that I didn’t really get my hands in the dirt today. Yesterday I chopped 5 clamshells of shiitake mushrooms into freeze dry trays and they finished up this afternoon. Next I’m doing bananas!

Letting them prefreeze while the freezedryer thaws from the mushroom batch.

I’m really excited to freezedry a bunch of garden produce. I’ve already done a bunch of small tomatoes, peppers, and cauliflower. I’ve even done eggs from our chickens. (They look so strange!)

Now these are raw freezedried eggs. Weird right?!

And of course, what is life without some cinnamon rolls? I use the recipe from The Pioneer Woman, you can find it online. It is insane. It makes 50 rolls. But we give them to our neighbors and friends and people we see on the street. 😅

You split the dough into two balls. Each is supposed to be 10”x30”, then you pour on a lake of butter and sprinkle on the cinnamon and sugar. Heavenly!
My sourdough starter is FINALLY active again.

I baked two sourdough loaves today. First time I’ve tried since we put in the wood stove. Man! Does my bread rise beautifully with this warm wood heat!

I’ve been making sourdough since 2020. (Haha. Of course right?) I made my own starter by following instructions from theclevercarrot.com

I really liked that website because it make it feel like making sourdough was my own adventure that might be different from other people’s, and that was okay. I really needed that, because just like a lot of other things in my life, my sourdough doesn’t exactly color inside the lines.

I’ve taken so many photos of so many loaves. Oh my gosh.
And every one has its own character!

I’m getting towards the end of my ability to share for the evening. I’m pooped. Today was a good day. I look forward to tomorrow!
